School listing terms
The whole agreement between a school that claims its listing and this site, in plain English. Last updated 27 September 2026.
1. What the listing is
Every school page on this site is built from the FAA's AV-Info list of 14 CFR Part 141 certificated pilot schools, a US government work in the public domain, republished with the source and date on every page. The page exists whether or not the school claims it. Claiming does not create the page and releasing a claim does not remove it.
2. What claiming means
Claiming is free. It lets a person at the school add to the page: a description in the school's own words, the programs it currently runs, its training fleet, a link to its published pricing, a preferred website and phone number, next start dates, and whether it is enrolling. Everything supplied is shown in its own block, dated, and labelled as supplied by the school.
A paid tier, Featured placement, is offered from the school's dashboard and is described in section 6. It does not change anything in section 1.
The page then shows “Listing managed by the school”. It means someone at the school holds the listing. It is not a verification, approval, accreditation or endorsement by this site or by the FAA, it says nothing about training quality or VA approval, and it does not change where the school appears in any list.
3. Who may claim, and how we check
Only someone authorised by the school may claim. We send a single-use link, valid for thirty minutes, to the email address the FAA publishes for that location and nowhere else. Where the FAA record carries no email, a person at this site verifies the claimant by hand, from an address at the school's own domain, before the same link is sent. We keep the verified address for as long as the claim is active, to sign the school in and to send it notices about its listing, and for ninety days after release.
4. What a school may not add
Nothing that reads as a ranking or endorsement claim (“best”, “leading”, “award-winning” and the like), nothing that implies FAA or other regulatory endorsement, no price figures in free text (link to your own published pricing instead), no links in free text, and nothing untrue, misleading or unlawful. Saves that break these rules are rejected with the reason shown. A school's first edit is read by a person before it is published; later edits publish and are sampled. We may remove or amend school-supplied content that breaks these terms and will tell the school when we do.
5. No enquiries
This site does not send student enquiries to schools, and no tier includes them. Claiming is not consent to be contacted by us or through us. If an enquiry service were ever offered, it would be a separate choice, off by default, with its own terms stated before it could be switched on.
6. Featured placement
Featured placement, $49 a month. One labelled box above the alphabetical FAA list on the school's state page, carrying what the school has supplied. The label says the position is paid for. A featured box appears only on browse pages; a search for a school by name returns that school regardless of who pays.
One subscription per listing, billed monthly by Stripe; this site never sees card details. The school may update its card, download invoices or cancel from the billing portal linked on its dashboard, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid month. When a subscription ends or a payment fails, the box comes off the page at the next build; the free claim and the FAA record are unaffected. Prices are shown before any sales tax that applies. No tier changes the school's FAA record, its place in any list, any cost figure this site publishes, or whether the school receives enquiries.
7. Releasing a claim
A school may release its claim at any time from its listing dashboard or by emailing questions@flightschoolcost.com from a school address. School-supplied content comes off the page at the next build and the FAA record stays exactly as it was. If the person who claimed has left the school, email us from a school address and we will transfer the claim.
8. Our side
We keep the listing current from the FAA list, keep school-supplied content separate from FAA facts on every page, and tell schools about material changes to these terms by email. We may suspend a claim while we investigate a breach. We are not liable for loss arising from the content a school supplies or from the FAA data as published by the agency.
